Lesson #34 The Football Kick
An Application of Parametric Equations

Quote of the Day:
"Mathematics, even in its present and most abstract
state, is not detached from life. It is just the
ideal handling of the problems of life."
         -- Cassius Jackson Keyser

Objectives:
The student will learn to take derivatives of parametric equations.
The student will apply parametric equations to a real life application.

1. Go over homework problems and collect.

2. Continue to work on Football Sheet.

3. Examine some computer-generated graphics which were created with
   parametric equations.
These equations are in three dimensions and define x, y, and z in terms
of two parameters (usually angles u and v).

4. Assignment:
      Finish Football Kick Worksheet
      p. 208 (13, 31, 35, 63ab, 70a, 73)
