Miscellaneous Mathematical Errors

      A few years ago a man won the Spanish national lottery with a ticket 
      that ended in the number 48.   Proud of his “accomplishment” he 
      revealed the theory that brought him the riches.   “I dreamed of 
      the number 7 for seven straight nights,” he said, “and 7x7=48”. 

      Just minutes before the NFL Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2010, 
      Emmitt Smith was asked by an ESPN reporter what it meant to be 
      inducted into the hall.  He replied, [previous inductees] "Michael 
      Irvin and Troy Aikman and I were called the triplets, and now I'm 
      completing the other half of that triangle."

      Redskins defensive back DeAngelo Hall was on DC sports talk radio 
      station 106.7 The Fan (WJFK) talking about the Skins' anticipated 
      first-round draft choice, QB Robert Griffin III.  Hall said, "A lot 
      of people liken him to Michael Vick because he’s a black guy and 
      he’s fast, but I just think his mentality — compared to what Mike’s 
      was when he came in the league — it’s 360. Just totally different."

      When NBA star Jason Kidd was drafted as a sophomore by the Dallas 
      Mavericks, he vowed to make a difference: “Were going to turn them 
      around 360 degrees.” so they can get back to right where they started.

      New Orleans Saint RB George Rogers when asked about the
      upcoming season: "I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards,
      whichever comes first."  

      Senior basketball player at the University of Pittsburgh:
      "I'm going to graduate on time, no matter how long it
      takes."

      Bill Peterson, a Florida State football coach: "You guys
      line up alphabetically by height." And, "You guys pair up
      in groups of three, then line up in a circle."

      Ben Affleck, when questioned about a strip-club incident:
      "By the time the tabloids get hold of it, I'm like, in a 
      three-way with Michael Jackson and Elvis and the Wolfman."

      During the N.F.C. Division Playoff game between Chicago and Seattle on 
      January 14, 2007, the announcers were talking about the special cleats 
      the Seattle running back was wearing.  Fox Sportscaster Joe Buck said,
      "I wish I knew which was longer: 3/8, 1/2, or 5/8."
      His partner kindly told him that 5/8" cleats were a little longer.

      During the quarterfinal basketball game in the 2008 Olympics between the
      U.S.A. and Australia, the announcer made the following statement: 
      "Michael Redd is shooting only 4 for 16 so far in the Olympics, 
      but he could knock off four in a row and be back at 50%."
      I guess he forgot to add the four attempts to the sixteen!
