Trains Meeting

Two freight trains, each 1/6 mile long and traveling at 60 mph, meet and pass each other.

How many seconds elapse between when the locomotives pass each other and the cabooses pass each other?

Solution to the Problem:

Ten seconds elapse between the time the locomotives pass and the cabooses pass.

From the time the engines pass until the time the cabooses pass each other, each train will have traveled 1/6 mile.
